I grew up driving past Herweck’s thinking it was a plumbing store, and it wasn’t until much later in life when I met some lovely friends who worked at the art store that I realized my mistake. It turns out I wasn’t the only person who mistook the squished paint tube for a pipe. 

When I was asked about designing a mural for the outside of the store, I knew my design had to communicate that this amazing San Antonio institution was in fact an art store. 

I can’t tell you how crazy cool it is to see something I drew on my iPad get painted onto a building that thousands of people pass by.
